  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing noted the following: a. No Thermometer in the fridge that holds children's lunches and snacks b. Lower drawer was accessible to children and held a plastic bag.

  Corrective action. Manager will purchase a thermometer for the fridge. CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION: plastic bag was removed from drawer and made unaccessible.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Wipable surface of the diaper mat was rough and dirty with holes poked through it making it hard to ensure it is sanitized appropriately from bodily fluids between changes. - Cabinet located under the change mat that is accessible to children with plastic bags located inside. - Cabinet located under the hand washing sink in the bathroom is accessible to children and has glass cleaner inside.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the environment is healthy and safe while children are in care.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 11 children's files of which 2 were missing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete and up to date.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 care plans. All 3 had been written with consultation of the parent however they had not been reviewed yearly.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all care plans are reviewed at least once a year with a parent of the child requiring a care plan.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 8 staff files of which 1 was missing immunization status.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are up to date and complete.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection, Licensing observed that 14 children's time of arrival were not documented on the attendance record.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the time of arrival for each child is documented on the daily attendance record.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

  Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one employee.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a record of the person's work history is on file.

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. Licensing noted that the Managers name was not posted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the Managers name is displayed in a prominent place in the facility.

  Corrective action. Please enusre all children's files are up to date and complete and include a photograph or digital image of the child.
