    Observation. Licensee observed a toddler size bike with rusty handle bars

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the childrne do not have access to any object that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. 1) Licensing saw several bottles labelled 'vinegar and water disinfectant' for use in the child care facility. Licensing informed the Licensee that this disinfectant is not approved for use for sanitizing diaper change areas, tables, toys etc. 2) The Licensee is using cloth towels for staff and children to dry their hands. The staff are utilizing the same towel for the day and not laundering after each use. Cloths used by the children are being laundered after each use.

    Corrective action. 1) Licensing discussed with the Licensee various options for sanitizing and provided the Licensee with the resource from BC Centre for Disease Control Cleaning and Disinfectants for Public Settings. Please remember to clean the surface first with soap and water followed by sanitizing. 2) All cloth towels must be laundered after each use or alternately the Licensee may use single use paper towels to prevent possible cross contamination.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. 1) Licensing observed a container of hand sanitizer located outside the door to the child care facility. 2)Outside in the children's play area Licensing saw a morning glory plant with blooms. The seeds of the morning glory plant are poisonous and will need to be removed to prevent accidental poisoning.

    Corrective action. 1) The Licensee will need to relocate the container of hand sanitizer to ensure it is out of the reach of the children as this product poses potential poisoning. 2)The Licensee will need remove the seeds of the plant from children's access.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed a gate from the outdoor play space leading to the upstairs area is beginning to show signs of rust. There is also a wire shelf located outside the facility door that is also beginning to rust. Exposure to rust by either adults or children poses a health hazard.

    Corrective action. Repair or replace the above noted items.
