    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing noted that the children are getting a diaper change on the ground, laying on a thin fabric that is not easily sanitized.

    Corrective action. Licensee stated she has a proper change mat and retrieved it from the closet, placing it in the bathroom.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 children's files of which the following was found: (a) 2 were missing a start date (b) 1 was missing the name and phone number of a doctor (c) 1 was missing a photo or digital photo.

    Corrective action. Manager stated she will work with the families to get the facility up to date.

    Observation. the facility is using cribs with drop down sides, these are no longer permitted due to the potential hazards

    Observation. the kitchen area is clutter and difficult to clean , the change table has areas that are worn and the surface is no longer intact

    Corrective action. please ensure the kitchen area is cleaned anfd the change table is repaired so the area is easy to clean

    Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that the licensee had an expired CRC.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff who are ordinarily present at the facility have a valid CRC.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The Licensing Officer saw a pair of scissors hanging by one handle and within the reach of the children on a door frame located in the outdoor play area. There it the potential for a child to be seriously injured due to the manner in which the item was stored and within reach of the children.

    Corrective action. In discussion with the Licensee during the inspection the Licensee removed the scissors and placed them inside the door. Ensure all hazardous items are stored out of reach of children at all times.
