    Observation. Knifes and scissors were stored in drawers that can easily be opened by children.

    Corrective action. Manager said that he will remove the knifes and other sharp items from the drawers

    Observation. Hot water in the children's bathroom was over 49 degree Celsius

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Standing water in a bucket on the pathway leading to the washroom. This was removed -Standing water in the outdoor play area in the water play table and a large bin of rainwater that was uncovered. In discussion the Licensee states he checks this before outdoor play -Chemicals in the shower in the washroom -Cords in the bedroom on the way to the washroom -A powerbar with exposed electrical outlets -A door to the garage in the outdoor play area is accessible. Various chemicals were observed on the floor and an accessible shelf. -Sharp cans in the recycling bin in the outdoor play area

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following outdoors in the play area: - Several jars with lids accessible to children were on the ground and the manager stated that compost was inside the jars. - a piece of wood was leaning against the wall located at the side of the outdoor play area, and the paint on the wood was peeling. - A shovel was leaning against the wall which could potentially fall on children. - Remnants of a cracked clay planter was scattered in a small area at the outdoor play area. - An old sink with pipes attached was turned upside down at the outdoor play area. Licensing observed the following indoors: - A piece of metal bar was behind the fridge which was accessible to children. Attached to it is a small plastic bag, which contained bolts and screws.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a safe environment is provided at all times inside and outside of the facility.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following in regards to the daily attendance record: - Some departure times were missing. This is a repeat contravention and was previously identified on inspection report #CLAN-BYZTL8 on Mar. 5, 2021. - Children absent today were not logged on the attendance sheet. In addition, one child's time of arrival was not logged.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the attendance sheet record are completed daily.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following outside in the play area of the facility: - A plank of wood was leaning up on a tree which could potentially fall on children. During the follow-up inspection, the manager moved the plank of wood and is no longer a hazard. - A metal arch was on the ground in the middle of the play area which could be a tripping hazard for children. During the follow-up inspection, The manager said that this was meant to be put up a few days ago, but was delayed. The items listed above are repeat contraventions from inspection report number MZIN-CCTL7M.

    Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any objects that may be hazardous to their safety. Evidence and a written response is required from the facility.

    Observation. Licensing observed in the bathroom a square shaped hole in the wall located below the wall. The hole was within reach of children and contained protruding nails, rust and peeling drywall.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: - A container with a closed lid that contained epsom salt was stored on the floor beside the wall where children play inside the premise. This container was within reach of children. The manager moved this item during inspection, to a place that was no longer within reach of children. - Glass jars were stored on the floor in the kitchen area which could be a tripping hazard for children Licensing observed the following outside in the play area of the facility: - Standing water accumulated in pots, containers and other areas of the space - Unravelled garden hose which was within reach of children and could potentially be a tripping hazard - A plank of wood was leaning up on a tree which could potentially fall on children - Sharp metal stakes were stored on top of the picnic table which was within reach of children - A shovel was on the ground which could potentially be a tripping hazard for children - A metal arch was on the ground in the middle of the play area which could be a tripping hazard for children - Located along the side of the outdoor play area, a broken clay pot was on its side and had sharp edges

    Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health or safety.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following was observed in the outdoor play area: -A broken chair -Loose boards leaning up against the fence. This could could cause a potential falling hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the facility, equipment and furnishings are in good repair.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -A loose cord -Missing plug covers in a power bar Licensing observed the following outside the facility: -A dog located in the facility was left outside in the outdoor play area and could urinate and defecate in the area where children were playing. In addition, upon removal of a bowel movement traces of the dogs' fecal matter would still be present. Licensing recommended using a portion of the outdoor area for the dog's use only. This is a repeat contravention. -A diaper mat was located in the play area. This could cause a potential for cross contamination if the children touch this during play.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times when the children are in care.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed the following: -Chemical cleaner in the living room. This was accessible to children. This was corrected during the inspection. -Bleach bottles within easy reach of the children -Empty butane gas cans in a bag in the outdoor play area -Emergency medication for one of the children was located in a backpack that was within easy reach of the children. The serious risk to health and safety was discussed with the Licensee. The backpack was placed on a higher shelf.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.
