Observation. An attendance record was observed but it did not include children’s absence/arrival/departure times.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will develop an attendance sheet that includes children’s absence/arrival/departure times.

Observation. Two staff files were reviewed. One staff’s criminal record check was not site specific, instead, it was a copy addressed to another organization.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain a site-specific criminal check for the staff
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Upon reviewing two staffs’ files, one staff file was missing immunization status.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain immunization status from the staff.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Two staff files were reviewed, one staff’s ECE certificate was not validated by using the system maintained by the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. The Manager said she will ask the Director to verify the ECE certificate through the system maintained by the ECE Registry.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection Licensing observed a Montessori board was partially blocking an exit. 11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee may use the same outdoor play area at the same time for more than one care program if the care programs are of the same type as prescribed in Column 1 of section 1 of Schedule E. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The facility shares the outdoor play area with two other facilities. A schedule for outdoor play has been established and agreed upon by the three facilities. During the inspection children from the preschool program went into the outdoor play area. Another program that provides group care (30 months to school age) were present in the space. Children from both facilities played together on the climbing equipment for a brief period. The children in the 30 months to school age program were advised by a staff to stay in only one area. Licensing spoke to the staff in the 30 months to school age program and the children and staff left the outdoor play area.
Corrective action. Please ensure to complete a playground check prior to playing in the outdoor play area. Please ensure ongoing communication is maintained between facilities if changes are made to the outdoor play schedule.

11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed rust at the bottom of the outdoor lower chain fence. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BUUTCJ. Please provide active supervision in the outdoor area until this is completed.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. A care plan was observed for the facility. A child's emergency medication was expired and there was no permission to administer medication for an additional emergency medication.
Corrective action. Please ensure emergency medication is not expired to comply with the care plan and that permission to administer emergency medication is received.
16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - PROGRAM
A licensee, other than a licensee providing a care program described as Occasional Child Care, must provide each child with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions would make it unreasonable to do so. (4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.
Observation. In discussion with the Manager she stated that the children play outside three times per week.
Corrective action. Please ensure children play outside on a daily basis to comply with the legislation.

Observation. Five children's records were reviewed. One child's record was missing a medical practitioners name and phone number. One child's record was missing a medical practitioners' phone number and one record was missing an emergency contact.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.

Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -the washroom door had dents in it -the sink and a stool had paint chips and may be difficult to disinfect

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection rust was observed in the outdoor play area on a lower piece of the chain link fence and a rusty wheelbarrow. This could cause a potential health hazard.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety. Licensing recommends providing active supervision around these rusty items until this is corrected.
