A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. -1 window gap with a screen barrier was exceeding 3.5 inches. Upon notifying the manager, the window stopper was placed and now restricts the window from opening. Corrected during inspection. -2 cement blocks by the wooden fencing are exposed to children. Upon notifying the manager, equipment was placed around the blocks making them inaccessible to children. Corrected during inspection. -Mini trampoline is available in the outoor area. As per the Government of Canada website, trampolines are not recommended for children under the age of 6 years old. As per the manager, she is aware of this and the children do not use the trampoline.

Corrective action. -As per the manager, the program will permanently remove the trampoline. Please address this by Monday, September 8.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. -2 children are missing doctor names and numbers. Walk-in clinic information is sufficient. -1 child has a parent listed as an emergency contact.

Corrective action. The manager will obtain the missing information which will then be recorded on the children's registration files. For the emergency contact, please ensure it is an individual who is neither parent or legal guardian.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status is missing for the practicum student.

Corrective action. The manager will obtain this information which will then be placed in the practicum student's file.
