A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The bottom drawer of the bathroom sink cabinet had plastic bags that were assessible to children.

Corrective action. The manager move these bags away from children's assessibility.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.

Observation. Diaper cream is used regularly but there is no medication administration consent form for any children.

Corrective action. Medication administration consent forms are required for any product w/ a DIN or NPN; however, documentation after every application is unnecessary for regularly-applied products like diaper cream or sunscreen.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. 1/4 child lacked their photograph (physical or digital).

Corrective action. All requirements of s.57(2) are required by children's 1st day of care. Photos aid 1st responders in the event of an emergency.
