Observation. Emergency medication for a child expired at the end of November 2023.
Corrective action. Please ensure current emergency medication is provided for the child.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 1/4 child has a parent as an emergency contact. Licensing explained that the emergency contact must be an individual that is not either parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure an emergency contact that is not the parent is listed in the child's file.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. No care plan was available for a child requiring emergency medication.
Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan is created in collaboration with the parent relevant to the emergency medication.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed the following: -Shelves had signs of wear and the particle board was showing. This can make this difficult to clean. -Plastic mats and plastic tile flooring had wear marks and puncture marks. This could potentially harbour bacteria.
Corrective action. Please ensure the furniture and equipment in the facility is in good repair.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Licensing reviewed the staff records. One of the staff records was missing a criminal record check. Please ensure the staff is not left unsupervised with the children until this is completed.
Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain a criminal record check for all staff prior to the start of employment.
