• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Two loose cords. This could cause a potential hazard. This was corrected during the inspection -One electrical outlet cover was uncovered. This was night next to a child's bed and could present a potential hazard. This was corrected during the inspection -A rusty gate. This could cause a potential health hazard. -The lock on the gate for the outdoor play area was broken. The Manager stated that she will provide active supervision in this area until this has been corrected and children will play in an alternate space until this corrected. Please correct by November 13, 2024

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.   Observation. The staff records were reviewed. One staff record was missing a verification of a certificate in the staff records. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #MZIN-CXSUJC

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a staff member's certificate was not validated and verified online by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

  Corrective action. Ensure that staff files are complete.

  Observation. Licensing observed that for one child, the medical practitioner / clinic information was not included on file.

  Observation. Licensing observed tape being used on the floor to secure social distancing cues on the floor. However, the tape has started to peel in some areas. This is a tripping hazard and cannot be thoroughly cleaned.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed children's files and observed that one child's start date was not written on file.

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. Manager's information was not posted within the facility.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the name of the manager is displayed in a prominent place within the facility.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must have all of the following: (a) emergency exits and a fire drill system approved by a local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.

  Observation. Fire extinguisher on-site was recently expired; Licensee stated that it has been scheduled to be serviced in the near future.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that fire extinguisher is inspected and tagged annually by a certified technician.
