  Observation. Licensing observed that the foam blocks are starting to rip and tear making them difficult to clean and sanitize. Licensing also observed that the nap mats are stored touching one another creating the possibility for cross contamination.

  Observation. Licensing observed one child's record to be missing an emergency contact number, and medical practitioner information.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing and Manager could not locate the verification for one certificate.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Spray bottles with soapy water and sanitizer were available. Licensing observed the following: - cords were not adequately secured to prevent trigging or head entrapment both in the kitchen area and nap room - bifold closet doors were not kept in a locked position to prevent accidental finger pinching - dark spots above the baseboards in the play room were visible and accessible to children. The wall appeared discolored with visible water stains. As discussed, this could be a mold problem and it is essential that you get rid of immediately as mold will compromise the air quality of the facility and pose as a health hazard to children.   Observation. Limited shade was provided in the outdoor play area. Licensee stated that umbrellas for shade were in storage. Licensing shared with Licensee the Outdoor Shade Audit Took Activity.

  Observation. Children's records were observed incomplete. Attendance for the day was not current.
