Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -A razor and personal care products underneath the sink. This was located behind a closed door that was unlocked. -An electrical outlet cover is missing -the gate to the fence was unlocked. In discussion the Manager stated a playground check is completed prior to children accessing the space. -Loose cords on the floor and on the printer. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-D52NC5 -Loose outdoor string lights in the outdoor play area. -Only one bottle of bleach and water was observed. The Manager said she uses Lysol in the washroom as it is stronger. Lysol takes 10 minutes to disinfect a surface. Licensing recommends using bleach. -A gate at the bottom of the stairs is missing (please provide active supervision until this is corrected). Please correct by May 23 rd. -Cat food in a pouch was located on the sensory table. This may present a hazard to the children.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. During the inspection Licensing requested to see the emergency supplies. The Manager left the key to access the garage in the upstairs of the home. This was relocated during the inspection. When accessing the supplies these were located behind many large objects and were difficult to access. More food is required. Licensing recommends sufficient food for a 24 hour period.

  • STAFFING

  • STAFFING

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. Licensing observed that one of the Manager's family members has a bedroom that is located on the floor where the child care facility is located. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.

Corrective action. As the facility is Licensed as a Multi-age childcare facility the Manager must provide a plan to ensure that all members of the home live in the living space rather than the space that is designated for child care. This does not meet the requirement of the care type that the facility is currently licensed for.
