A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -One bottle of bleach and water was used for disinfecting the diaper changing surface and the tables and materials. This could cause a potential for cross contamination. This was corrected during the inspection. -The fire extinguisher was located in a corner. A small box and a lunch kit were placed in front of the fire extinguisher. This was corrected during the inspection
Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is accessible both visually and physically.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing observed that the day of the fire drill was not recorded for the month of June 2022. A staff said that the fire drill was completed with children for the month of June. This is a repeat contravention. This item was identified and contravened on Aug. 18, 2021 on routine inspection report #MZIN-C62NJ9.
Corrective action. Ensure that the complete date of the fire drill is recorded every month.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing observed that for one child, the full date of enrolment was not recorded on file, as only the month was written. This is a repeat contravention.This item was identified and contravened on Apr. 30, 2019 on routine inspection report #KSEY-BBQNTG.
Corrective action. Ensure that the full date of enrolment (month, day, year) is recorded on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A record of the person's work history (resume) was not included on file for one staff.
Corrective action. Ensure that a record of the staff's work history is included on file.
12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that 2 staff did not have their certificate validation on file. This is a repeat contravention. This item was identified and contravened on Aug. 18, 2021 on routine inspection report #MZIN-C62NJ9.
Corrective action. Ensure that staff certificates are validated. During inspection, Licensing showed the website for validating certificates to a staff. The staff printed both of the validations and included it on file during the inspection.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following were observed and discussed with the manager: - Fire extinguisher stored under the kitchen sink, should be securely mounted on the wall, out of the reach of children ( but easy access for adults). Due: June 15/2020 - Outdoor Fence: require some maintenance and repairs to address wood rot, missing planks, rusty nails and loose screws. Manager is aware of these damages all caused by the city and is in process of scheduling the repairs.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
