15010 - CCLR s.14(4)(a) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. The facility has not practiced or have written record of completing the emergency plan.
Corrective action. Ensure the emergency plan is practiced once per year and recorded.

A licensee must provide to children a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that (b) is appropriate for the age and development of children in each group in the community care facility.
Observation. The facility requires children to stay on a nap bed from 1-3pm in a dark room with little amount of light with no activities. There is no programming for children who do not sleep during this time.
Corrective action. Ensure that there is a comprehensive and coordinated program of activities that is age and developmentally appropriate for children who do not sleep.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection Licensing observed a loose cord located at the level where the children's beds were placed. This could present a potential hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CC6RAR.
Corrective action. Please ensure that loose cords are secured to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed the exits in the school age room. A table and dustpan was placed in front of one of the exits partially obstructing the exit. In addition a second exit had a large garbage bin in front of the exit, partially blocking the exit.
Corrective action. Please ensure furniture and equipment do not block or partially block an exit in case of an emergency.

Observation. During the inspection the children's records were reviewed. Written permission from a parent, regarding access to a child was not observed in the children's record.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -a loose cord and an exposed outlet on an extension cord -the kitchen was open. A kettle with hot water was within reach of the children. In addition staff bags were within easy reach. The potential risk to children was discussed.
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed a large bucket in the outdoor play area. The bucket had broken and jagged edges.
Corrective action. Please ensure the equipment is in good repair.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Staff spraying a table with a bleach and water solution while children were sitting at the table. Children were reminded while sitting at the table to not touch the table until it was dry. Please ensure staff clean and disinfect surfaces in a manner that doesn't expose children to the disinfectant and wet surfaces until they have air dried -In the outdoor play area a chain link fence had rust on it. Rust can cause a potential health hazard.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that could be harmful to their health and safety.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed that the shed in the playground was unlocked and slightly ajar. Within the shed was a lawnmower and an open bucket that contained ice melt, a chemical. This was located within easy reach of the children. The shed was closed and locked during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that is harmful to their health and safety.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed that the tile floor had many marks and perforations in the tile. In some areas the concrete floor was exposed. This could be difficult to clean and could potentially harbour bacteria. Potential funding was discussed. Licensing recommended the Manager research funding options for repairing the flooring. In addition several children's chairs had peeling paint
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is clean and in good repair.

Observation. During the inspection the following was observed inside the facility: -a electrical outlet cover was missing. This could cause a potential electrocution hazard. During the inspection the following was observed outside the facility: -a hose was uncoiled. This could present a potential tripping hazard
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times to the children in care.
