• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed the play away space policies and found that they were insufficient for the play away space in use for the outdoor class program. The manager will provide more details for the play away space plan, and Licensing will return to review the space, and the transportation plan.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to keep current records of written policies and procedures that are intended to guide the employees in the care and supervision of the children.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Review of 4 staff files, 1 file contained an expired validation of Early Childhood Education Certification.

  Corrective action. Please ensure record of verification is on file.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed cleaning products in an unlocked cupboard underneath the sink.

  Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.
