A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): -A cabinet storing plastic bags was accessible to children in care. -An air freshener puck was accessible to children on the counter in the bathroom.

Corrective action. After a conversation with staff in the program they moved the air freshener, and the bags cabinet were latched.

Observation. One doll house was unsecured to the wall, providing tipping concern. This is a repeat contravention.

Corrective action. The licensee will consider a plan and provide a written response for how they will address this.

Licensing observed: -Laminate flooring was chipped with damage in both GCC (under 36 month classroom), those areas were taped with packing tape, however edges of the tape were curling and insufficient to prevent tripping, and to effectively sanitize the area where children eat. -Some wall damage where children have access to the drywall materials in the GCC (30m-SAC) classroom -There was no system to ensure the fridge temperature is maintained below 4 degrees celsius at all times.

Corrective action. The licensee said they have a plan to replace the flooring on two days in August, when the children will not be in care. They will provide a plan to prevent tripping with a mat in the short term. -The licensee said they will provide a plan for addressing the areas of wall damage.

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed staff supporting children using the in classroom sink, this sink was tested at 52. 5 degrees Celsius.

Corrective action. The licensee turned off the hot water while licensee was on site.

Observation. During the inspection licensing observed children using one classroom sink for hand washing. Water was tested at 52.9 degrees Celsius.

Corrective action. Please ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

Observation. During the inspection licensing observed to following: -The exit door located in the GCC(under 36 moths) classroom was easily accessible to children. A gate was previously approved at the time of issuance of the licence. -One dollhouse was unanchored posing a risk of tipping on a child while playing. -A crib was located next to hooks, and bags with handles on the wall, accessible to children when in the crib. -The washer and dryer was stored in the bathroom, with a gap behind providing access for children to slide behind, posing a risk for entrapment. -Outdoor play space turf secured to the one side wall was loose in two areas, where it provides room for entrapment.

Corrective action. Please ensure to provide a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection licensing observed a partially consumed bottle of milk laying in a crib in the nap room. No child was napping in the room at the time. Staff removed the bottle during the inspection.

Corrective action. Please ensure to promote healthy eating and nutritional habits when providing bottles to children.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed all facility fire extinguishers to have not been serviced for more than a year.
