• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 children's records, of those one record was not on site until later in the inspection. This file did not contain immunization status.

  Corrective action. Licensee will secure the immunization status, and develop a system to ensure all records are on site prior to the child attending care.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed, of those 1 file did not contain record of emergency contacts for the child.

  Corrective action. Licensee will collect the information, and add that to the file.

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed the evacuation records, and found the evacuation practices had not been practiced in the past year. This was a contravention in 2022.

  Corrective action. Licensee will consider a plan to ensure the evacuation plan is practiced at least once per year.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 8 children's records, of those, at least 3 children's records did not include date of enrolment in the community care facility. This was corrected during inspection

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Documentation of absent children had not been entered into the non-reportable log book, or the sign in sheet.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to keep for each child a record showing whether the child is absent.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed three staff records, of those, one was missing immunization. This was corrected during inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain evidence the person has complied with the province's immunization program.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 14 children's files, of those, 1 file did not contain the name of the medical practitioner.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to keep for each child a record showing the name of a medical practitioner.

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. Managers name was not posted. Licensee stated this would be done today.
