If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. Medical administration permission form had not been completed for at least one child who requires medication. 2 medications in the medication storage box were expired.
Corrective action. Staff in the classroom said they will have the form filled out by the parent on this day.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 12 children's files one file did not contain start date for the child.
Corrective action. Staff corrected this during the inspection.

Observation. -In two areas of the wall near the cubbies of the GCC (30m-SAC) classroom, there was damage to the wall, with drywall accessible to children. -At least two nap cots were observed to be ripped and in need or repair or replacement.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 6 employee files, of those, 4 ECE or ECA certificates had not been validated by the system maintained by the early childhood registry.
Corrective action. Please ensure to validate certificates for all employees who hold ece or ecea certificates.

Observation. During the routine inspection 6 staff files were reviewed. Although the staff had their references in the file there was no evidence of the references being checked.This is a repeat contravention from 2021.

Observation. During inspection, licensing observed the Group under 36 months program, and the Group 30 months to school age program sharing the playground at the same time. Staff child ratios were met, however, the facility had not been following the shared play space schedule in place.
Corrective action. Please ensure to use the space for one care type at a time.

Observation. A storage room accessible through the cubby space in the over three program is unlocked and accessible to children in care. The storage room contains classroom supplies, in some cases, stacked high posing a tipping hazard.
Corrective action. Ensure all hazard are inaccessible to children in care.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Chipped paint in the over three program. -Visible signs of dirt and splatter on some areas of the wall and the storage room door. -Visible signs of glue residue which has collected dirt on the under three cubbies. -Debris in the outdoor play space such as plastic wrap, insulation, etc. Licensing recognizes that there is insulation type material on the surface of the covered area above the playground. Please ensure systems are implemented to remove debris while children are using the outdoor play space.
Corrective action. Ensure the facility and the fixtures in it are clean and in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must have all of the following: (a) emergency exits and a fire drill system approved by a local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.
Observation. Licensing observed that the maintenance tags on the fire extinguisher in the under three programs indicated that servicing was due on or before January-18-2020. A conversation with the staff member indicated that the extinguisher had received maintenance and was not sure why the tags were not changed.
Corrective action. Ensure there is evidence of fire extinguisher maintenance.
