- MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. A child who was allergic to nuts had an expired EPI pen on site. This is a repeat contravention from 2024.
Corrective action. Ensure that medication is not expired.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Some emergency supplies were found to be expired. The items have been removed by staff on site. This is a repeat contravention from 2024.
Corrective action. Manager will replace the expired items.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Licensing observed a care plan on site. The care plan was created in 2025 but it has not been reviewed annually nor has been signed by the parent.
Corrective action. Ensure care plan is reviewed annually or sooner if need be.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Licensing observed that arrival and departure times were missing for some children on some days in the month of May. This is a repeat contravention from 2023 and 2024.
Corrective action. Ensure times of arrival and departures are accurate.

- MEDICATION

Observation. Medication was readily accessible to employees however the medication was expired.
Corrective action. The staff will notify the parents and ask for new medication for the child in care.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Fire drill for the month of May was not conducted. Staff said they missed the fire drill for month of May.
Corrective action. Staff said that she will encourage all staff to conduct fire drills the following months.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan due to the food in the bin being expired.
Corrective action. Ensure an emergency plan to prepare, mitigate, respond and recover is available.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. During the routine inspection licensing reviewed that daily sign in sheet and observed that on few dates in May and April the children have not been signed out. This is a repeat contravention from 2023.
Corrective action. Ensure a record of departure is accurately maintained.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 11 children's files were reviewed and one child was missing an emergency contact.
Corrective action. Staff will contact the parent and collect the information and add it to the child's file.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the routine inspection the following was observed: - the covering of the trampoline in the day-care classroom had a few tears in it and the springs were exposed - the corners of the sleeping mats were torn and the sponge was exposed. The manager said that the mats are not used for sleeping
Corrective action. Please ensure the equipment in the facility is in good repair.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. During the routine inspection licensing reviewed 11 children's files and 4 children's files were missing a photo or a digital photo.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Observation. During the routine inspection licensing reviewed 11 children's files and the following was observed: - 2 children's files were missing an MSP number. Manager said that one of the families have recently moved from a different province and they might not yet have an MSP number. 1 child's file was missing a record of immunization.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Observation. On review of three staff files, Licensing observed two were missing immunization status. Licensing discussed with the Director the intent to ensure current records are in place and will provide a form for staff completion to assist with recording status. One staff did have a copy of status on their phone.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Several tables had lost the top coat on the top surface causing the surface to be rough, porous and prone to splintering. -Several areas of the care facility have chipped paint exposing white underlay.
