- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Loose unsecured cords beside the fridge and by one of the toy shelves are accessible to children that could pose a safety risk.
Corrective action. The Manager will secure the cords to the wall.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. An emergency drill was conducted last December 2024 but was not recorded.
Corrective action. The Manager will record the emergency drills in the same document as their fire drill records.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of several children's files, one is missing a record of immunization status.
Corrective action. Please complete all children's records as required.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Upon review of daily attendance records, time of departure were not accurately documented.
Corrective action. The Manager said that they will ensure accurate attendance records.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Care plan for a child with an anaphylaxis allergy medication was not developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent.
Corrective action. The Manager will create a care plan together with the child's parents.
19250 - CCLR s.58(2)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one employees.
Corrective action. The Manager has spoken to the staff member to provide a copy of the resume by tomorrow.

Observation. Five children's files were reviewed and two children did not have evidence of medical practitioners listed. The LO reviewed this item with the Licensee during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including Dr's name and contact details.

Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and two children did not have documented information regarding a medical practitioner name or contact number.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including Dr's name and contact details.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Three staff files were reviewed and one staff working in the program did not have the correct CRC available.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete prior to working with the children including CRC's.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Three staff files were reviewed and one staff did not have evidence of Immunization status.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete prior to working with children including immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Three staff files were reviewed and one staff who is a qualified educator assistant did not have the credentials verified through the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete prior to working with children which includes ECE certificates being validated through the ECE Registry.

Observation. The fire drill records were reviewed and two months were not practiced or recorded in the current year. LO reviewed this with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure fire drills are practiced and documented monthly.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The fire extinguishers in the programs have expired service tags on them. LO reviewed this item with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure equipment in place is effective in mitigating, responding and recovering from an emergency.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation. A staff working in the program did not have evidence in her file that her ECE certificate had been validated through the ECE registry. LO reviewed this item with the manager and additionally it was discovered that the other staff's certificates too were not documented to be validated.
Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete including documenting validation of ECE certificates.
