- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Some of the foam safety barriers in the baby room appear to be damaged.
Corrective action. The manager said they will replace the foam.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - PROGRAM
A licensee, other than a licensee providing a care program described as Occasional Child Care, must provide each child with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions would make it unreasonable to do so. (4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.
Observation. The Baby class does provide daily outdoor play periods.
Corrective action. The manager will have a discussion with the staff and ensure that outdoor play is provided daily when conditions are reasonable.
18060 - CCLR s.44(3)(4)(5) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, a few are missing a record of their immunization status and one is missing the medical insurance plan number.
Corrective action. The manager said they will obtain and keep these records from the parents.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Upon review of several staff records, one was missing a criminal record check that is specific to this facility.
Corrective action. The manager said they will obtain and keep this record.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective action. The manager said she will obtain and keep the record.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. One staff working in the program at the time of the inspection did not have their ECE Certificate posted at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure all qualified staff have their certificates posted in the facility.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. Two programs in operation at the time of the inspection did not have the correct staff to child ratio planned or in place. The LO reviewed the requirements of Schedule E in depth with the manager during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure each program has the correct ratio of employees to children at all times.
14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Eight children's files were reviewed and several missing immunization documents and medical insurance plan numbers were missing.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including immunization status and Care Card Number.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Eight children's files were reviewed and one child was missing medical practitioner name and contact number.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including Dr's name and contact details.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A record of the person's work history was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete including resumes.

Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete including CRC's prior to working in the programs.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The 3-5 playground has a netting barrier in place throughout. One area has been damaged posing a risk to the children playing in the area. Excessive sand present on the ramp leading into the playground too posses a slipping hazard to the children too. Some debris on the Infant/Toddler playground to be removed and several foam safety barriers damaged to be corrected. The LO reviewed all of these items in-depth with the manager at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times.

Observation. The Community Care Facility License was not posted and the name of the manager was also not posted at the time of the inspection.
