- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. The emergency supplies include a few items, a box of 64 granola bars but no water.
Corrective action. Licensing discussed this thoroughly with the staff. They review the items in their emergency supplies and add water.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Upon review of the attendance records, it was observed that some children were not signed out on some days.
Corrective action. Please ensure that attendance records are accurate.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.
Observation. Upon review of several children's records, one was missing the consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance.
Corrective action. The Licensee said that she will reach out to the parent to get this consent.
19190 - CCLR s.57(3)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. Three children who require extra support does not have care plans.
Corrective action. Licensing discussed this thoroughly with the staff. They will create care plans for these children.
19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon review of 3 staff records, two were missing records of character references. There were only lists of names and contact information of references.
Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain and record staff character references.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. The last documentation of the facility's emergency drill was August 2023. The staff said that an emergency drill has been conducted since then, however, not documented.
Corrective action. Ensure a current record of the annual emergency and monthly fire drills is maintained.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Of the two staff files inspected, one did not contain a valid Criminal Record Check.
Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete.
