    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The cubbies and one tall cabinet are not secured which may pose as a tipping hazard.

    Corrective action. The manager said they will secure the cubbies and the cabinet.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. The fire extinguisher is due past service.

    Corrective action. The manager said they will check with the landlord for servicing.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.     Observation. Upon review of staff records, two ECE certificates were not verified.

    Corrective action. The manager said she will verify the certificates and keep the record of it.

    Observation. Group Child Care - Staff to Child ratio not maintained. ECE working in the program at the time of the inspection had expired certificate. LO reviewed the requirement for staffing qualifications and exemptions applications process.

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

    Observation. A cabinet inside the program has broken doors posing a risk to children playing in the area. A gate on the playground was not latched appropriately at the time of the inspection. The LO reviewed these items with the manager at the time of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure equipment, furniture and supplies are sturdy and safely constructed.

    Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

    Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete including immunization status.

    Observation. Children in care have been flipping over a playhouse structure and climbing on it. This has been a practice for a few weeks posing a risk to the children playing in the area and on the structure.

    Corrective action. The Licensee must ensure the health and safety of the children in care.
