- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. Based on the information gathered by Licensing during the inspection, the Licensing Officer determined that the following allegations were substantiated: • Licensing observed various food particles on the floor, kitchen counters, and tables. Food particles on the floor could potentially be picked up and eaten by a toddler age child in care. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of food service areas is needed to prevent the spread of potential illness. • Licensing observed sticky spills on the kitchen counters and soiled kitchen appliances. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of food preparation and food storage areas is needed to prevent the spread of potential illness. • The cat litter box, which contained potential excrement, was observed to be accessible to the children in care. • Various items such as articles of clothing were observed on the stairs to the upper floor and on the floor in the hallways. The location of these items created tripping hazards and obstructed fire exit routes. • Hazardous products (e.g. cleaning spray bottle) were accessible to the children on the kitchen counter. • Hazardous objects such as debris, electrical cords, low hanging lights, adult garden tools, and a pet excrement collection container and scoop were accessible to the children in the outside play yard. The Licensing Officer observed the Licensee remove pet excrement from the play yard during the inspection and before the children started playing in the space. • Ensure that the sandbox used by the children in the outside play yard is covered when not in use. During the inspection, the Licensing Officer identified the following additional contraventions: • Some vinyl mats used for sleeping arrangements appeared to have stains. While the Licensee stated that sheets are washed and used as covers for these mats, regular cleaning and sanitizing of the sleeping mats is also needed. • Ensure that a 6ft clearance around climbing equipment (i.e. moveable slide) is maintained. This clearance is to ensure that the children can safely enter and exit the equipment. - This contravention was resolved during the inspection.

- C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. - The Licensee's own child, who is under the age of 12 years and who is home schooled, must be included on the daily attendance as they are counted in the number of children in the facility during daycare hours. - Some child emergency records were missing identifying information such as the sex of the child, eye colour, hair colour, etc. Other record keeping systems in place such as minor incident logs, play space inspection log, medication administration forms, etc. were reviewed and they appeared satisfactory.
