    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Toilet paper holder on the B-side children's washroom is broken. - A screen door leading out to the patio area is broken. A work order has been submitted for it to be fixed.

    Observation. Licensing observed bedding used by children to be touching when stored in one unit on the B side due to the edges extending out, providing a risk of cross contamination. Manager informs that the few mattresses used in this room are tucked away because children use this area for gross motor sometimes.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. *A gate separating the art/science area from the main activity area is loose and unstable. *A red pallet that has been attached to the fence on Side A has metal straps attached to hold plant pots. The ends of these metal straps were observed to quite sharp. *A partially crumpled metal disk once used to hold a patio umbrella is being used as a loose parts item on Side A. This item has sharp metal edge on the inside ring.

    Observation. *The staff bathroom was unsecured providing access to a tall, unstable metal shelf and a toolbox full of tools. A discussion was held with the manager as to how best to secure the door with a child-proof option like a knob cover so that a person does not get accidentally locked in from the outside. *An extension cord for the light table (Side A) was observed to be hanging unsecured straight down from the ceiling to the table.

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. *CCFL observed children's bedding on sleep mats that was touching. This creates the possibility of cross-contamination. *A hoop of rubber tubing was attached to a window sill at child's neck level. The Manager indicated the loop was being used for basketball, however it was very strongly attached to the windowsill creating the possibility of a strangulation hazard.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. *A wooden chair in the outdoor play yard was covered in black mould. This item is no longer in good repair.
