    Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - The kitchen door was left open with cleaning chemicals in an unlocked cabinet under the sink. LO mentioned this to staff, and the door was closed. This item was addressed during the inspection. The kitchen door is to be kept secured at all times. - Facility currently uses a bottled sanitizer for tables at mealtime. The manufacturing instructions state that the sanitizer is to be rinsed with water after use, which staff stated was not being done. LO discussed with staff and Manager, that following manufacturing instructions is an important factor, particularly when the chemical touches a food surface. Manager informs that bleach solution changed daily may be a more convenient product for sanitizing, and will likely change to bleach instead.

    Heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. [CCLR Sec. 47]

    Observation. Water temperature in both washrooms are measured to be above 49 degrees Celsius.

    Current policies and procedures are kept as required . [CCLR Sec.56 (1) and CCALA 19]

    Observation. Licensing and Manager was unable to locate the Active Play Policy, Screen Time Policy, and Repayment Policy. Manager informs that the facility does not provide screen time, and will deliver a presentation to families in regards to the use of screens to be limited on a regular basis.

    Observation. Licensing observed several pieces of information missing from children's files including medical insurance information, medical practitioner's information, immunization status. A discussion was had with the Manager, in regards to the importance of having all required information for each child, prior to beginning care.

    Observation. Licensing officer and Manager was unable to locate several pieces of information including record of work history, certificate verification, and immunization status for staff. Manager informs that she will obtain the documents, and send an updated staffing list to Licensing.

    Observation. The kitchen door was not secured during this visit. Kitchen cupboards contained several hazardous chemicals and are potential accessible to the children. The Kitchen is located close the washrooms.

    Observation. A Child in care requires an EPI pen. It was observed that both medication pens had expired as of Ma 2020 and Dec 2020.

    Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

    Observation. Staff had been making daily detailed records but stopped during COVID. It was discussed with the manager the difference between a daily check and the monthly maintenance check. Manager will start recording the monthly checks again
