There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

Observation. There were no single use towels present adjacent to the hand sink in the washroom.

Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

Observation. There were cleaning supplies stored under the sink in the bathroom, accessible to children.

The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

Observation. Children have access to the stairs and underside of the stairs to the deck, there are areas of entrapment. The west side of the house between the fence and the house is difficult to see and supervise from the main area of the backyard. There are large garbage bins and other hazards in this narrow space.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. Immunization status and care card number was missing from children's files.

Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. No outdoor checks are being records.

Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]

Observation. There is a fire extinguisher present but no service tag present to indicate whether or not it works.
