    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: 1) One bifold door safety lock was broken posing a risk of finger pinching. 2) In the nap room, an electrical cord was taped along the floor, running along two nap mats. A crib was placed blocking access to the electrical cord at the time of inspection. On the other side of the wall, the cord was secured to the wall with cord fasteners, however there was slack in the cord.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: 1) The white metal railings and glass railings enclosing the basement stairwell and back deck have extensive algae and dirt build up and are in need of cleaning or power washing. 2) One fence post at the side of the house is loose and leaning over. The post is at risk of falling over and requires to be secured. 3) Once fence board is loose and has an entrapment gap. 4) The wood board enclosing the bottom step of the basement stairs is loose on one end.

    Observation. Licensing observed a section of the fence on one side of the house had fallen over. This poses as a hazard as the outdoor play space is not enclosed. This item is not in good repair. Licensing observed a section of the fence to have a rotten section peeling from the fence with an exposed screw. This poses a risk of injury. This item is not in good repair.

    Observation. Licensing observed that some type of shrub had been previously removed from the left side of the outdoor play space along the fence. The stems of the shrubs were sticking out of the ground and appeared to be sharp. This poses a risk of injury if a child were to fall into this area.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the raised hearth of a fire place that had been previously covered with fabric and padding on blunt edges. Some of the blunt edges on the hearth were observed to be exposed as the padding has worn away over time. This poses a risk of injury.
