  First aid kits are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided away from premises. [CCLR Sec. 23(2)]

  Observation. The first aid kit did not have an icepack. The lead staff stated they use the ice pack located in the preschool freezer but used to have a single use instant ice pack in the first aid kit.

  The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

  Observation. The centre staff keeps accurate attendance records, but one child was not signed in by their parent. Five children in care did not have a picture on file, one child in care did not have a care card number on file.

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that no food or water supplies were kept to be self sufficient for a period of time (recommended 72 hours). It is recommended that staff in the room have an access key to the outdoor emergency supply storage box.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the screws/anchors that secured two wooden play kitchen cabinets to the wall had come loose.

The manager stated the supplies had been stolen and they were in the process of ordering new supplies. It is recommended that staff in the room have an access key to the outdoor emergency supply storage box.
