Observation. Licensing observed the following: 1) Uncovered electrical outlets in the main floor and basement playrooms. 2) A wood gate post with a sharp splintered corner located by the gate to the basement. 3) A climber dome positioned close to the cement walkway. This poses a risk of injury if a child were to fall off. The climber dome was moved away from the walkway during the inspection.

Observation. Licensing observed the Licensee's first aid certificate posted. Copies of other certification for the Licensee and other staff working in the program were not prominently displayed in the facility.

Observation. Licensing observed children's beds and used bedding touching. It is important to maintain good hygiene and prevent the spread of germs and infections among children. Ensure that children's bedding does not touch. Licensing observed an accessible extension cord on the floor of the children's play room. This poses a risk of entanglement- corrected during inspection (CDI). Licensing observed a children's slide in the outdoor play space. The slide was observed to be close to large rocks in a garden area. This poses a risk of injury if a clild were to fall off of the slide.

Observation. Licensing observed that the facilities diaper changing mat was stored on the ground beside a toilet. Licensing observed the diaper changing mat to be visibly dirty. This poses as a health hazard. A discussion was held around various options for storage for the changing mat. The Licensee suggested potentially storing the mat on the wall with a hook.

A record for each child containing any special instruction respecting the childs diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the childs care that is given by the childs parent to the licensee and agreed to by the licensee is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(h)]
Observation. Licensing observed documentation in one child's file indicating an allergy to peanuts. The severity or status of the allergy was unknown by the Licensee. Licensing requires a follow up with the child's family to determine the status of the allergy and if a current care plan is required.

Observation. Licensing observed missing registration information for one child that occasionally attends the facility. A discussion was held around having the required information for all children in attendance full or part time. Licensing observed one child missing a photograph on file.

Observation. A student and an additional roommate living in the home do not have criminal record checks. Licensing was informed that both the student and the roommate have applied but are awaiting response. The Licensee informed Licensing that they have also began the process of renewing their CRC but are awaiting response.

Observation. The licensee was observed to leave the children alone. When Licensing arrived all 4 children were left alone downstairs while the door was answered. The Licensee was upstairs changing a diaper of the 5th child in the upstairs bathroom. The Child Supervision policy details that the downstairs bathroom has diaper supplies to enable the Licensee to change diapers and supervise children in the downstairs activity area.

Observation. The fridge thermometer was in the downstairs fridge which is not used for the children in care.

Observation. The licensee is not following the Child Supervision policy created for the facility. Several points are not being followed which include;- -Ensure child are not left alone in the playground or any room. -Have clear sight lines to all children in the group at all times, -Ensure playground gates are closed after entry/exit. Gate leading to garage was open today.
