  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: *a portable potty with urine stain. This observation was shared with the Licensee. The Licensee informed that a potty is cleaned after every use but she might have missed one. *chipped and loose paint at the corner of the wall and on the surface of a wooden door step leading to the staircase in the nap room.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: *pieces of artificial turf/ grass appeared to be curled up and unevenly placed. - this could pose as a tripping hazard. *broken acrylic fence panel with the exposed sharp edge at the bottom - accessible to children.

  Maintenance of Equipment: Thorough inspections of the outdoor play space are conducted regularly. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space] (13)

  Observation. Licensing observed a record that accounts for inspections of the outdoor play space. The Licensee keeps a copy of the outdoor inspection list in their away first aid kit. During today's outing, Licensing did not observe the Licensee inspecting the away play space prior to having children accessing this area (i.e. community garden). Discussion took place regarding conducting the Away Play Space inspection for different outing spots (i.e. local garden, school playground, etc.) to ensure the safety of the children.
