    Observation. Licensing observed a hallway partially blocked by unsecured household items. Although this hallway leads to personal bedrooms not used by the program and does not contain an emergency exit, it could still pose as a hazard in the event of a fire or as an injury risk during an earthquake. If this area presents a challenge for supervision, alternative ways to secure the space can be explored. Inform Licensing as to how this issue will be addressed.

    Observation. Licensing observed various personal items including Listerine located under the sink in the washroom. These items were accessible and pose as a hazard.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the facilities fire extinguisher expired on 2022/12/21. Licensing observed that the facilities emergency supplies (food and water) is current.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed a bi-fold closet in the nap room that was unlatched. This presents the possibility of a pinching hazard.

    Licensing is notified within 24 hours after a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or has a reportable communicable disease. [CCLR Sec.55(2)(a)(b)]

    Observation. At today's inspection the LO asked the caregiver about a child in care who had two front teeth missing. The caregiver reported the child had a fall at the child care centre in December 2021 where the two teeth were knocked out. The caregiver reported to the LO that she had called the parent of the child who took the child to Children's Hospital for examination.

    The licensee has written parental consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness, in cases where the parent cannot immediately be reached. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(a)]

    Observation. Two children in care did not have an emergency card/consent form in the first aid kit taken on outings.
