The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]
Observation. Licensing observed the following: *wooden retaining wall and the wooden climbing structure appeared to be slippery. This could pose as a tripping/ safety hazard. *several unknown mushrooms growing on the wooden stumps. *the bubble/ convex window in the climber was covered with green algae. This appeared to be in needs of cleaning. *tree stumps appeared to show signs of decay and rot. The program manager informed that the old tree stumps will be replaced.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]
Observation. Licensing was unable to review the care plans for children who require additional support needs. Discussed with the manager, Licensing will provide a care plan template for the program to develop a care plan for each child with additional support needs. Licensing will also provide a care plan template which accounts for Anaphylaxis to ensure all required information is readily available when a child is in care.

Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor space: *2 nails protruding from a toy shed in the outdoor space. *wild mushrooms growing out of the wooden stumps. *a broken wooden frame being placed near the sand box.

Observation. During review of the children's files, Licensing observed a child registered in the program who did not meet the age requirements for a Preschool program.

Children in Preschool are in care for more than 4 hours each day. [CCLR Sec. 40(2)]
Observation. Licensing Officer observed that some children are attending an extended day. This is longer then the permitted number of 4 hours per day for Preschool Children. Licensing Officer also observed that on the Program's website they are advertising an extending day. A licenced program is unable to offer a program that does not meet the Child Care Licensing Regulation.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. Although the wheels on the shelving units in the main activity room were removed, Licensing observed that they could still be easily tipped.

Observation. Licensing Officer observed a minor incident book, however there has been no documentation since 2017.
