A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Multiple mats used for sleeping in the infant program were torn, exposing the foam.

Corrective action. The Manager will connect with the Director and advise on a compliance plan.

Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.

Observation. The kitchen area in room 101 was set up as usable floor space for the children during the application phase, in order to obtain a capacity of 12 children. The Manager advised that the kitchen area has not been used by the children. The space is occupied with a fridge and storage.

Corrective action. The Manager will connect with the Director and advise on a compliance plan.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. There was insufficient water in the emergency supplies.

Corrective action. The Manager advised she purchase water sufficient water for 72 hours.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. 4 staff files were reviewed and none of the staff had site specific criminal record checks (CRC). The CRC's were referenced to a previous place of employment.

Corrective action. The Manager will follow-up with the director on the status of setting up an account with the criminal record review program.
