    Observation. -Drop tiles were observed leaning against the wall in the washroom -Two uncovered garbage cans were observed

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. -A piece of laminate had a crack in it and this caused a dip in the floor. This could cause a tripping hazard -The deadbolt lock to the front door was unable to fit in the hole as the door frame was bent.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. -Bleach and water bottles, air freshener and disinfecting wipes were placed at the edge of the counter and next to a step stool. This could create a potential hazard -Loose cords were observed in the sleep rooms. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-DF6PHE -Plastic bags were observed on shelves in the washroom and in the classroom. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-DF6PHE -Diaper cream was located on a shelf at the children's level. -Peppermint essential oils in a spray bottle were observed on the edge of the counter. This was accessible to children -A staff bag was accessible to children this contained essential oils. This could present a potential hazard

    Corrective action. In discussion the Staff said that she felt that the shelf was high enough so children could not reach the items.

    Observation. -Medication was observed for a child. Signed permission was observed for the old medication and not the new medication. Signed permission by a parent or guardian must be provided prior to administering the new medication.

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing measured the temperature of the water in the children's washroom. The temperature measured 62 degrees Celsius.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the water that is accessible to children does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius. Please provide active supervision with children in this area until this is corrected.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one of the walls in the naproom was exposed. This was located at the children's level.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Loose cords in the children's naprooms and in classrooms -Bleach and water sollution was accessible at the children's level -Staff bags with pills exposed were in cupboards at the children's level -Vitamins were located on a low shelf accessible to children -Plastic bags and bubble wrap were located on a low shelf. This was accessible -Small beads were in an unlocked cupboard - A cord from a kettle was hanging off of a countertop. The kettle was hot to the touch. -Chemicals were observed in the upstairs washroom that is required to be accessible for the children in care -Chemicals, air freshener and paint were observed in an open storage room in the washroom used for the infant and toddlers - air freshener was located at the children's level -Windows located on the second floor were measured. These were open to a width or six inches. Windows were recommended to be open to a maximum of 4 inches wide. Window limiters were applied.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the name of the current Manager was not posted but the name of a staff member was posted with a Manager email address.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - The edges of a small metal door attached to the outdoor play area wall has rust, which is easily accessible to children, as it is located in the lower part of the wall. - Peeling paint on various parts of the wall located outside at the play area. During the first day of inspection, a staff said that this has been brought to the attention of the landlord.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the facility is in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - In one of the nap rooms located in the main floor, wall socket plug covers were missing. - A felt board with a metal frame used for circle time was leaning against the window along the ledge in one of the the nap rooms located in the main floor. This item could potentially fall and may harm a child sleeping right under it. This was corrected during the first day of inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - In one of the nap rooms located in the main floor, the wires of electronic devices were stored on top of a low furniture which was within reach of children. - The small room located in the main floor where cleaning supplies are kept has a door. The door was wide open during both inspection days, and liquid cleaning substances were stored on the floor near the sink and door. - A ladder was observed to be leaning upwards against the wall on the first day of inspection. This was located in the room where cleaning supplies are kept. - Standing water which was inside the mop bucket, was observed in the room where cleaning supplies are kept.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health or safety.
