- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -A hose was unwound and could present a potential hazard -Several cords in the naproom and classroom were accessible to children. These may cause a potential hazard. Some of the cables were corrected during the inspection -Plastic bags were observed at the children's level. These were removed during the inspection -Diaper cream was located at the children's level. This was corrected during the inspection -Hand sanitizer was located within the reach of the children. This was removed during the inspection.
Corrective action. In discussion the Manager stated she will correct these items by tomorrow .
11200 - CCLR s.17 - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed the staff records. One record was missing a verification of the certificate from the Early Childhood Educator Registry. This was corrected during the inspection

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed individual towels were being used for each child. Towels are replaced once daily.
Corrective action. Please ensure to use towels for a single use only.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing observed one staff certificate was not posted in the facility
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. The records for fire drills and emergency evacuation drills were observed. An evacuation drill was not recorded for the previous year.
Corrective action. In discussion the Manager stated the evacuation drill was practiced but not recorded.

Observation. LO discussed with Manager, re: pending application for CRC for anyone over the age of 12 and are ordinarily present on the premise.
Corrective action. Please ensure that CRC are obtained for anyone over the age of 12 residing at home and/or are ordinarily present on the premise while children are present.
