- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -chemicals were on a low shelf. This was within reach of the children. This was corrected during the inspection -staff bags were accessible correct by August 22, 2024 -blind cords were not secured -several outlets were uncovered
Corrective action. Please ensure to provide active supervision until these items are corrected.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a large shelf placed in front of the emergency exit. This was removed during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure nothing blocks or partially blocks an exit to ensure it is clear in case of emergency.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following was observed outdoors: Wooden planks and metal plant supports with some rust and sharp edges were stored behind the locked white metal storage unit located in the corner of the outdoor play area. These items were accessible to children and could potentially be a safety hazard. A staff said that supervision is provided to ensure children do not go to this area. The manager removed the items during the inspection, and stored in a place no longer accessible to children. The following was observed indoors: A long and heavy metal piece with prongs was placed on top of the metal filing cabinet, which was access to children and could potentially be a safety hazard. This was discussed with a staff, and it was stored in a place no longer accessible to children during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure that a safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the fire drill has not been recorded for the month of May and June 2022. In addition, it was also observed that the emergency drills have not been recorded. During inspection, the manager and staff said that they have been doing the drills, but was just not recorded.
Corrective action. Ensure that the fire and emerency drills are recorded.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed the children's files and noted that one child was missing their date of enrolment on file.
Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete with the child's date of enrolment.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following were observed and discussed with the Licensee: - Several areas on the walls within the facility are chipped and cracked. The rubber wall base started to peel off from the wall (corner). - Shelving units need some maintenance; i.e. peeling paint. - Cleaning supplies are stored within girl's washroom, on top of the toilet seat ( corner floating shelve). Licensee stated that these items can be relocated by April 23, 2020.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided while children are in care.

Observation. One child's care plan is expired ( last review in 2017). All care plan needs to be reviewed with the child's parent at least once a year.
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.

LO discussed the following during inspection: Reference check- as a part of the hiring process the Licensee must provide indication that character references were obtained in respect of the person. This applies to all employees.
