    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

    Observation. Two mattresses were observed in three cribs. Only one mattress is permitted per crib

    Corrective action. In discussion with the staff the children use two mats to sleep on in the cribs. This could present a potential hazard.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Fire drills were not recorded for the months of April to December. An emergency drill was not recorded for 2025.

    Corrective action. In discussion with staff the fire drills and emergency drills were completed and were recorded. The forms were not available for review

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed several items were placed in front of the emergency exit door. Access to the emergency exit door was partially blocked.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the faciltiy: -A drawer in the washroom was accessible to children. The drawer contained many plastic bags. This could present a potential hazard. -Several containers filled with diaper cream were located at the children's level. -A toilet brush was observed on the floor

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -A bottle of medication without a prescription had a child's name on it. No instructions or medical authorization was provided by parents -Two forms with signed permission to apply medicated cream were observed. The name of the medication was not listed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain parent /guardian permission prior to administering medication and ensure all of the information on the authorized forms are completed.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. The fire extinguisher was observed behind a shelf filled with children's shoes.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is accessible to be prepared in case of emergency.
