    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Sunblock located at the children's level -Hand sanitizer on the change table. This was removed -Cords in the front area, play area -Sharp thorns outside in the play area -Cords for appliances accessible in a cabinet that was easy to open -A loose cord in the outdoor play area could present a potential hazard

  • MEDICATION

    A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (a) the child's parent has instructed the licensee to permit this.

    Observation. Licensing observed that medication used in an emergency was placed in a backpack located at the children's level. Medication was accessible to children in care.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to place the emergency medication in an area away from the children to ensure their safety.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Disinfectant was observed on the diaper changing table. Stairs were observed on the front of the table. This could present a potential hazard -A toilet brush was located at the children's level. This could present a potential health hazard.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A cord attached to string lights, was observed hanging down from the upstairs deck. Although not located at the children's level, it could cause a potential hazard for children. This was corrected during the inspection. -A fire pit was observed in the outdoor play area. The fire pit was covered in rust. Rust could present a potential health hazard. -A staff bag was located at the children's level. Items located in the bag could cause a potential hazard.

    Observation. Licensing observed the children's files and noted that one child was missing their emergency contact.

    Corrective action. This was corrected during the inspection by the manager. Ensure that the date of enrolment of children are always included on file.
