  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

    Observation. Upon a review of a child's record, Licensing observed that a child requires medication for a medical condition however, the medication was not readily accessible to staff. Licensing discussed ensuring that any medication identified in a child's registration form is available for staff to administer in the event of a incident. Additionally, Licensing discussed ensuring that the medication administration form is completed by the parent.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed that all the food and water in the emergency bin have expired. Licensing discussed having a system to ensure that emergency supplies are maintained and that there is sufficient supplies for 72 hours for the number of children in care and staff.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for the month of October, Licensing observed that children are not identified as absent in the morning program. Licensing discussed the intent of the regulation and the importance of ensuring that children who are absent are identified in the morning and afternoon programs.

    Corrective action. The Manager will ensure that attendance records are accurate moving forward.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

    Observation. Upon a review of a child's records, Licensing observed that the child requires extra support however, no care plan was developed for the child. Licensed discussed and provided clarification when a care plan is required, what to include in it and how often it is required to be reviewed.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

Upon a review of three days of the attendance records for the month of October 2024, Licensing observed the following; - Two days children's time of arrival not recorded - Two days that children's times of departure not recorded - Two days children not identified as absent or present Discussion had on sign in/out process.

    Corrective action. The Manager will ensure that attendance records are completed accurately on a daily basis.

    Observation. Upon a review of two staff records, Licensing observed that one staff's work history was not obtained.

    Corrective action. A written response to be provided to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
