    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the fridge temperature at 10.3 degrees Celsius. Licensing explained that the fridge temperature should be between 0-4 degrees Celsius as children's food and milk are stored in it.

    Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed a body spray body in an unlocked bathroom cupboard and accessible to children.

    Corrective action. The Manager will move it out of children's reach.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - A big stereo system on top of a tall shelf. Toppling hazard. - The lock on the utility room door is broken and children have access to many hazardous objects and substances that are stored in the room. The Manager corrected this by placing a new safety lock on the door making the room inaccessible.

    Corrective action. The Manager will remove the stereo from the top of the shelf.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - three children's training seats on the bathroom floor. - The bleach and water solution bottles are not changed every month or few weeks. Licensing provided education that the bleach and water solution bottles need to be changed everyday.

    Corrective action. Corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

    Observation. Upon a random review of three children's records, Licensing observed one child's record missing the date of enrolment.

    Corrective action. The start date will be recorded.

    Observation. Upon a random review of three staff records, Licensing observed that one staff's immunization status was not obtained.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that they will have the staff's completed immunization form in their file.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Areas within the nap room where the paint has started to chip because the sleeping mats hit the wall.

    Corrective action. Please ensure facility is clean and in good repair.

    Observation. With a care plan it is not clear whether it has been developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent as there is no signature or notation to indicate it has been done in consultation. Additionally there is no date on the care plan to indicate when it was created. Discussed requirements of care plans.

    Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are completed in consultation with the parent and dated in order to ensure it is reviewed yearly.

  • NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES

    A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.

    Observation. Facility provides snacks and some children obtain hot lunch from a catering company the facility brings in. When LO reviewed the menu posted on the fridge, it was not consistent with what the Manager had indicated the children had eaten for lunch. The menu items that staff had noted was not listed on the monthly menu at all. Manager stated that they send leftovers home and sometimes verbally tell that parents what was eaten. Discussion had with staff about requirement of providing parents with food and drink information for both snack and lunch.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that parents are provided with accurate information about the snacks and lunches provided at the facility.
