Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children; - unlocked bathroom closet with hazardous chemicals on the shelves - unlocked bedroom with hazardous objects and chemicals
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. A tall fan in the nap room not secured and close to a sleeping mat. Toppling hazard.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

Observation. The following were observed that are accessible to children in care; - adult metal rake, and adult shovels resting against the wooden fence - a pack of cleaning sponges with medicinal ingredients in an unlocked kitchen drawer
Corrective action. A written response to be provided to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the plastic slides, climbers and picnic tables, in the outdoor play area, with green grime on them. Discussed having a system in place to ensure that all the outdoor are clean.
Corrective action. A written response to be provided to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed a shelf in one of the play rooms that is not secured to the wall. Potential to fall on a child and injure them.
Corrective action. The Licensee said that they will anchor the shelf to the wall.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed a diaper rash cream in an unlocked bath room cupboard. The cupboard is accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. The Licensee said that they would move the ointment jar so that it is inaccessible to the children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. Licensing was informed, by the Licensee, that a child's epi-pen had expired and a new one has not been provided. Licensing discussed the importance of ensuring that a child's medication is readily available in the event the child required it.
Corrective action. The Licensee said that they would make sure that they obtain the medication from the parent.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b)

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. A care plan with a course of action is required for a medication that was provided to the Licensee. Another care plan requires confirmation that the care plan was created with the parent (i.e. plan signed by parent). Discussion had with Licensee about having accurate care plans which are reviewed yearly.
Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are available and accurate when required.
