  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. The Manager stated that an emergency drill has not been conducted within the past year. Last school year's emergency drill documentation was not available as it has been sent off site.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that an emergency drill would be conducted and documented this month.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Multiple ladders stored against the wall in the entry hallway. Can act as topple hazard.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before October 10, 2024.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. One child with various medical prescriptions related to conditions does not have symptoms or course of action noted within the care plan. Discussion had with the Manager about what needs to be included in the care plan and created with the parent, reviewed yearly.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before October 7, 2024.

  A licensee must do all of the following: (a) employ at a community care facility only persons of good character who meet the standards for employees specified in the regulations.

  Observation. Two staff files which do not indicate whether the staff has immunization, references, resume.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before October 10, 2024.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. Licensing was unable to review the care plan and the courses of action for a child with one on one support because the care was not at the facility. The Manager informed Licensing that the support worker had taken the care plan with them to update however,the child was in care. Licensing explained the importance of ensuring that the care plan is available for staff and Licensing to review so that they are aware of the courses of action required for the child requiring extra support in a situation.

  Corrective action. Ensure that for each child requiring extra support a current care plan is kept including the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon a review of six staff records, Licensing observed that criminal record checks (CRC) for three staff have not been obtained. The checklist identified the CRC for the three staff as "in progress".

  Corrective action. Ensure that staff records are complete.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A large bottle of 70 percent alcohol was observed on the counter, accessible to children in care.

  Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health safety.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. One employee's staffing records checklist was not available at time of inspection. A conversation with the Manager indicated that staff records were available at headoffice and that a checklist indicating that appropriate records have been obtained/maintained will be created for that employee.

  Corrective action. Ensure staffing records are complete and are available for inspection in some respect ie: original documents or checklist.
