• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Two coat racks at the entrance that is used for storing the children's backpacks and coats are not secured to the wall and can act as a tipping hazard. At the time of inspection, rack was observed to be tipping when the children were adding their personal items onto the rack.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before November 20, 2024.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Upon a random review of two children's records, Licensing observed that the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner for one child was not obtained. Licensing discussed what would meet the intent of this legislation.

  Corrective action. Ensure that children's records are complete.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed a soft bean bag chair that has ripped its fabric cover on one corner, exposing the underlay. Education provided to the Manager that due to the ripped fabric and exposed underlay the chair is hard to sanitize. The Manager informed Licensing that the chair will be removed.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the furniture, equipment and fixtures within the care facility are clean and in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Licensing observed a metal stand and hoop of a portable basketball stand resting against the porch railing, in the outdoor play area, accessible to children in care. Potential for the stand and hoop to fall on a child and injure the child.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Upon a random review of 3 out of 5 children's records, Licensing observed one child's record missing the date of enrolment.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all children's records are complete prior to the child attending the care facility.
