- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -The diaper change mat is damaged in one area exposing foam which can not be cleaned or disinfected. -Licensing observed medicated cream accessible in the children's bathroom.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. 2 care plans were not dated for the purposes of annual review.
Corrective action. Ensure all care plans are dated for the purposes of review at least once each year.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. A care plan does not include sufficient information in the section referring to the course of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Corrective action. Ensure care plans are complete and contain adequate information for staff to be able to carry them out.

A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Two outdoor big balls that are deflated. - The doorknob of an outdoor plastic play house has broken exposing sharp edges. - A crack on the door of an inside plastic play house. The plastic on the crack is sticking out and sharp.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed that a plastic climber is placed on the cement and not on any resilient surfacing. Potential for a child to fall while climbing and seriously injure themselves on the cement. Licensing provided education on placing all climbers and slides on resilient surfacing.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Upon a random review of three children's records, Licensing observed that one child's date of enrolment is missing.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's records are complete prior to the child attending the community care facility.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon a random review of three children's records, Licensing observed two children's records missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. Licensing provided education on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's records are complete prior to the child attending the community care facility.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Upon a review of two staff records, Licensing observed that one staff's certificate validation has not been obtained.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete prior to the staff working at the community care facility.

- PROGRAM
A licensee must provide to children a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that (c) complies with the program standards set out in Schedule G.
Observation. Licensing observed that the active play policy does not state how long the children go outside for. Upon discussion with the Manager Licensing observed that the children have only 30 minutes of outdoor active play. However, based on the daily schedule posted at the facility the children go outside for only 45 minutes. Licensing provided education that children should have a minimum of 60 minutes of outdoor active play per day.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that complies with the program standards set out in schedule G is provided.
18030 - CCLR s.44(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. Licensing observed that there were only two entries in the minor incident log book. One entry was in 2019 and one in 2020. The Manager was not clear on what would be considered a minor incident and what incidents needed to be recorded in the minor incident log book. Licensing provided education and clarification on the intent of the minor incident log book.
Corrective action. Please ensure that current records are kept for minor incidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
