    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the three children in care time of arrival was not identified. The Manager was unaware that they were required to sign each child in as they arrive. Licensing provided clarification that upon a child's arrival at the facility, the child should be signed in on the attendance record.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that attendance records are accurate on a daily basis.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following that is accessible to children in care: -Toilet bowl scrubber and plunger in an unlocked bathroom cupboard. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION). - Tape on the carpet at the doorway of on play area that has uplifted at both ends. Tripping hazard. - Several wires from the mounted TV hanging down from the wall. - Adult rake in the undercover cement area of the outdoor play area. - Many small grocery plastic bags in an unlocked kitchen cupboard. Potential suffocation hazard. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION ).

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Paint in many areas of the care facility chipped and exposing the white and silver underlay. - Two small round chips on the toilet seat. Education provided on bacteria growing, not being able to sanitize and for spreading of germs. - Three sleep mats that have rips and foam underlay exposed. - Brown stains on the walls, doors and light switches of the care facility. -One playpen mat and handle, located in a play room, has several brown stains. - One high chair cover with several stains. -Four strollers in the outdoor play area with dirt and stains on them. - Several outdoor toys, cars and trikes with green grime on them. - A small outdoor car with a broken horn. - The water drain is broken in the outdoor grass play area causing the water to drip profusely into the grass play area. The dripping water has created a big puddle of standing water. Licensing provided education on maintaining a clean environment to prevent the spreading of germs.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within are clean and in good repair.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is no written policy in place respecting food and drink to be given to children. The Licensee was able to explain the policy surrounding food and drink to Licensing.
