Observation. Two staff did not have site specific criminal record check. Manager stated that one staff has the site specific criminal record check but hasn't brought it to the facility yet. The other staff applied for the site specific criminal record check this week. Manager stated that they would follow up with staff.
Corrective action. No written response is required.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - The fridge temperature was measured at 8.7 degrees Celsius. Licensing explained that the fridge temperature, that children's snacks are stored, in needs to be between 0-4 degrees Celsius. - A child's medication is stored within children's reach. The Manager said that it's stored close to where they are supervised. However, Licensing explained that it is still accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

Observation. Licensing observed that a child's medication is stored in their backpack which is accessible to children in care. Licensing provided education on the importance of storing substances that can hazardous to children's health out of children's reach.
Corrective action. Ensure that children do no have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Upon a review of three staff records, Licensing observed one staff's criminal record check (CRC) addressed to another facility. Education provided on ensuring that CRCs are site specific. Sharing form explained.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete prior to the staff working at the community care facility.

Observation. Upon a review of three staff records Licensing observed that two staff's records had references. However, all three references for both staff were typed up, read very similar and there were no signatures on any of the references. Upon speaking with the Manager there was no evidence that the references had been checked. Licensing provided education on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete prior to the staff working at the community care facility.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care:- - A bottle of cleaning solution and Lysol wipe container in an unlocked cupboard under the sink. - A bottle of bleach and water solution spray bottle sitting on top of the paper towel dispenser.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substances that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

Observation. Upon a review of five children's records, Licensing observed a child that has a diagnosis but no care plan in place. Licensing provided education on when a care plan is required.
Corrective action. Please ensure for each child requiring extra support a care plan is in place showing the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

Observation. Upon a review of two staff files, Licensing observed one staff's file missing references.
