    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a carpet in front of one of the play rooms that is curled on all sides. Potential tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

  • LICENSING

    A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the Manager's name is not posted anywhere in the facility.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the Manager's name is displayed in a prominent place within the community care facility.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    If a person prepays part of the cost of services provided by a class of community care facilities designated by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, the licensee must, at the time of the prepayment, deliver to the person a written statement setting out the terms and conditions on which a refund of all or any of the prepayment will be made.

    Observation. Upon a review of the facility's prepayment policy, Licensing observed that the Licensee did not provide a written statement outlining the terms and conditions of refund to a person at the time of prepayment. Education provided on what would meet the intent of this regulation

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a prepayment policy is developed and provided to parents explaining the terms and conditions on which a refund of all or any of the prepayment will be made.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Upon a random review of three children's records, Licensing observed one child that has an allergy and an epi-pen in case of an allergic reaction. However, there is no care plan in place for the child. Licensing provided education on the importance of having a care plan in place for any child requiring extra support. Licensing provided education that the care plan should include the courses of action required in the event the child has an allergic reaction an should be reviewed at least once a year.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that or any child requiring extra support a care plan is developed in consultation with the parent of the child requiring extra support.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. In the backyard where children play, there were several clusters of mushrooms growing in the grass. These areas are all accessible to children. It is unknown what type of mushrooms they are.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all mushrooms are removed prior to children playing in the backyard to prevent possible consumption.
