  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. At the time of the inspection the Licensing Officer (LO) observed the following; - bathroom cleaner accessible to children in care - sanitizing solution stored in a closet that was not locked - gardening equipment stored in an area outdoors that was accessible to children - a sharp instrument stored in a drawer accessible to children The LO reviewed all of these items with the Licensee at the time of the inspection and all items were addressed.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

    Observation. At the time of the inspection the children were playing outdoors. The program first aid kit was not with group outdoors and the LO reviewed this item with the Licensee in depth.

    Corrective action. Ensure first aide kits about readily accessible at all times on and off site.

    Observation. One qualified staff working in the program did not have their certificate posted in the facility.

    Corrective action. Ensure all qualified educators have their certificates posted in the facility.

    Observation. Fire drill records were reviewed and two months were missing and not conducted. Emergency drills were also not recorded.

    Corrective action. Ensure monthly fire drills are conducted monthly and recorded. Additionally ensure emergency drills are conducted yearly and recorded.

    Observation. Three children's files were reviewed and all children did not have evidence of medical practitioner and an emergency contact available. The LO reviewed this with the manager during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including Dr's name and contact details and an alternative emergency contact.
