- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. The following was observed inside the facility at the time of the inspection; - significant clutter throughout the space - hazardous items accessible to the children in the washroom - storage of toys and equipment pose a risk to the children The LO reviewed these items with the manager indepth.
Corrective action. Ensure the facility, furniture, equipment and supplies are sturdy, safely constructed, clutter free and free from hazards.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. The program was observed outdoors during the inspection. The first aid kits was not readily accessible at that time. The LO reviewed this item in depth with the manager.
Corrective action. Ensure a first aid kits is accessible both on site and off at all times.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. In effective hand washing and hygiene practices observed during the inspection. The LO reviewed these items in depth with the manager.
Corrective action. Ensure children and staff are instructed and supported to practices the rules of health and hygiene.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.
Observation. At the time of the inspection the children were observed eating a meal. One child present was not observed following Canada's Food Guide with regards to the meal. The LO spoke in depth with the License about this requirement during the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure healthy eating and nutritional habits are promoted.
17020 - CCLR s.48(1)(b) - OR SUPERVISION
A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. At the time of the inspection the staff was not consistently supervising the children. The layout of the space allows for several rooms to be used which poses a supervision challenge and poses a risk to children in attendance. The LO reviewed this item indepth with the manager.
Corrective action. Ensure children are supervised at all times effectively.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and two children did not have evidence of immunization status available.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are accurate including immunization status.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Six children's files were reviewed and three children did not have evidence of Dr's name or contact details available.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete including medical practitioners name and contact number.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. The attendance documents were reviewed during the inspection. Several missing times were identified and the LO reviewed this indepth with the manager.
Corrective action. Ensure attendance records are accurate for each day including time or arrival and departure.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. At the time of the inspection some clutter and items stored in areas that pose a hazard to the children in care was observed by the LO. These items were reviewed with the Licensee on a phone call later in the day on the day of the inspection for the LO.
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. The outdoor play area had the following accessible to the children in care posing a risk to their safety; - prickle bush / weeds - carpet with rolled edges - slide without resilient surfacing underneath - small trampoline without resilient surfacing underneath - yard tools - vegetable patch with compost material - grass surface uneven and in need of lawn maintenance - debris and broken furniture storage - two garden hoses stored inappropriately - garden flower bulbs exposed - gate to be secured and closed at all times LO reviewed these items with the Licensee on the phone later in the day on the same day as the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure outdoor play materials and equipment are safely constructed and free from hazards.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In the facility cleaning supplies were observed stored in a location that is accessible to the children in care. Diaper cream was additionally open and accessible to the children. The LO reviewed these items at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that my be hazardous to their health or safety.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. The facility License was posted within the facility however the name of the manager was not posted.
Corrective action. Ensure the name of the facility manager is posted with in the facility in a prominent place.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. Four children's files were reviewed and none of the children have photographs available in the event of an emergency.
Corrective action. Ensure a photograph or digital image of the child is available and in place prior to the child attending the program.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Four children's files were reviewed and one child was missing gender, DOB, care card #. All the other children were missing immunization status information.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete prior to attendance at the facility.

Observation. The facility attendance records were reviewed and some children were not recorded with departure times. Some absent information was also not recorded on the attendance records.
Corrective action. Ensure each child's attendance is recorded daily for arrival and departure times and if absent.
