    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Grass in outdoor play area has been dug up by animals and the play area is unusuable as the surface is uneven and is a tripping hazard.

    Corrective action. Licensee will smooth out the ground and fill the holes in the play area.

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the hot water was 62.3 degrees Celsius. The heated water accessible to children should be no more than 49 degrees Celsius. The licensee said she will ensure that the hot water is turned off or regulated below 49 degrees Celsius.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the heated water accessible to children is no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the emergency supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan. There was one kit with food/water that was not enough for 72 hours. There were no other emergency supplies in the kit. The licensee thought it was for 24 hours only. She will get more supplies for the emergency kits.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the emergency supplies kit has enough supplies for 72 hours per person.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 1 staff's file and the licensee's file was not on site to view, both licensee and a staff did not have a validation through the Early Childhood Educator Registry.

    Observation. Along the walkway to the entrance of the facility, there is a wood beam that has a long rusty nail protruding.

    Corrective action. Manager stated it will be removed today.
